Data for the work was collected from both primary and secondary sources. From a study population of 210 members, a sample size of 138 respondents was drawn using random sampling techniques. Analysis of data was done with use of tabulation and simple percentage statistical tools. The findings among others revealed that cooperative society has a significant positive impact on women empowerment in the rural areas in Kogi State and in Nigeria at large. It is thus, recommended that government should implement policies that would aid the setting-up of cooperative societies rather than discouraging it.
