Abstract
This study focuses on students’ attitudes toward media messages in promoting abstinence, faithfulness and condom use with a particular focus on Delta State University, Abraka. The objective of this study is to determine if students of Delta State University Abraka listen to and understand media messages promoting abstinence, faithfulness and condom use. Survey research method was used for the study. A sample size of 120 was used for the study. The instrument used for this study was questionnaires. The random sampling method was used by the researcher. The respondents were randomly selected. The questionnaire was designed and distributed to the respondents to generate data for the study. Out of the 120 copies of questionnaires administered, 110 were retrieved. The researcher used the simple percentage method in the tabulation of results. Findings show that Mass media messages in promoting abstinence, fatefulness and condom use are efficient and effective among students of tertiary institutions. Based on the findings, the researcher recommends that the print and electronic media should be used for awareness raising as well as workshops and community outreaches.
