Abstract
This study assessed the media as a driving force in the fight against the surge of kidnappings in Nigeria. A study of Maloney FM 95.9 Keffi. The major aim of the study was to examine radio advocacy and the campaign against kidnapping in Nigeria, other specific objectives of the study included examining the security challenges in Nigeria, ascertaining the causes of kidnapping, examining the resultant consequences of kidnapping and examining the causes of kidnapping and proffer solutions to the problem of kidnapping in Nigeria. This research work adopted the Queer Ladder Theory (QLT) as its analytical framework. The design used by the researcher to carry out this work is survey. All the staff of Maloney FM 95.9 Keffi constituted the researcher’s area of interest for this study. The study adopted the non-probability sampling technique to determine the sample for the study. The researcher sampled only forty-four (44) respondents out of a total of fifty (50). The instrument used was questionnaires. The questionnaire was structured close-ended. Data was collected by administering the questionnaires to the respondents who are staff of Maloney FM Keffi. The study found out that there are a lot of insecurity challenges in Nigeria, unemployment and poverty, poor state of development, get-rich-quick syndrome, and inadequate equipping of law enforcement agencies are major causes of kidnapping, kidnapping has very dire consequences that will indeed affect the country, there are possible solutions that can help to quell the rate of kidnappings in Nigeria. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that the government of the country should endeavour to make more efforts towards curbing kidnapping in Nigeria....
