The focus was on three main subject matters: to outline the challenges that can constrain the utilization of information technology in the teaching and learning of computer science in some selected private secondary schools, to analyze if the teaching and learning with the use of information technology can advance the student’s comprehension in computer science and to determine if the use of information technology in secondary schools in Ankpa Local Government can enhance the academic development of Kogi state. Three research questions were formulated to guide the researcher in investigating the phenomena. A descriptive survey design was used to collect data from the field through the use of questionnaires and an observation schedule. From the findings, there was a strong indication that the use of ICT in learning and teaching in most of the selected schools in the study area is limited. In most of the secondary schools, the students were in agreement that the infrastructure was inadequate. Percentage of the students indicated that they do not have the skills to create/edit a document, save a document, send mail and open a file. This is a clear indication that most of the students did have basic knowledge on the use of technological facilities. The study also recommended that schools with IT facilities should employ more IT staff to build the students. Finally, further research is to be done on the utilization of IT facilities where such facilities are well established in other geographical areas of the country. ...Preview Download Preview +Other Education project topics and materials you might be interested in»Strategies for improving low academic performance in English language in secondary schools»The effect of continuous assessment on academic performance of students in school (a case study of Okitipupa local government area of Ondo state)»Influence of social media on the performance of secondary school students as perceived by teachers»The use of extensive reading in promoting communication competence in secondary school»The effect of overpopulation on the academic performance of students - a case study of Uselu secondary school, Benin City»Effect of drill and practice on the academic achievement of students in English language in junior secondary schools»Evaluating the causes, effects and solutions to cultism in Nigeria's tertiary institutions»Factors affecting the effective implementation of continuous assessment in Oredo local government area of Edo state»The problems of primary school education in Kano State»Effect of school environment on the academic performance of primary school students»Factors associated with the mass failure of students in integrated science in secondary schools»Factors affecting the implementation of universal basic education in some selected primary schools»Cultism in Nigeria's tertiary institutions - a case study of Lagos state university»Efficacy of mastery learning on retention and performance in identified threshold concepts in chemistry among secondary school students in Kano municipal, Nigeria»Impact of principal’s leadership style on students’ academic performance in some selected secondary schools of Gwale local government area, Kano state
