This condition affects one in five children and contributes to nearly half of all deaths during childhood globally. This research study was a descriptive survey carried out to assess the perception of patients towards malnutrition among infants, a case study at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital. The objectives of the study were to determine the level of awareness among patients on malnutrition in infants, to determine the effects of malnutrition among infants, the influence of cultural beliefs on the perception of patients on malnutrition of infants and the possible solutions to malnutrition among infants. 100 respondents were used for the research. The information from the research was manually analyzed and presented using frequency tables. Based on the findings of the study, it was concluded that the patients have good perceptions of malnutrition in infants. It was also concluded that there are several effects of malnutrition among infants, including poor physical and cognitive damage in infants, increased rate of mortality and infectious diseases among infants. Finally, it was concluded that the possible solutions to malnutrition among infants include improving access to nutritious food, adequate education on breastfeeding and proper community-based intervention programs. And it was recommended that Health education should be given to enlighten mothers on the causes, prevention and possible treatment of malnutrition.
