Abstract
This study examined the correlation between adolescence and academic performance in Chanchaga Local Government Area, Niger State, Nigeria. With a sample of 300 students chosen through stratified random sampling, the research employed a quantitative survey design using a self-administered questionnaire. The questionnaire focused on physical, emotional, and social changes during adolescence, along with academic performance. The investigation aimed to address the decline in academic success observed among adolescents in various contexts, emphasizing the lack of local data for Chanchaga. Utilizing Bronfenbrenner's Bioecological Model, the study explored interconnected layers of influence, encompassing individual, family, community, and cultural factors. Physical changes like puberty and sleep patterns were identified as impacting academic performance, along with emotional and social factors such as peer pressure and family dynamics. Socio-economic disparities and access to educational resources also played a role in academic achievement. Stakeholders, including students, educators, parents, policymakers, and researchers, can benefit from understanding these challenges. The study recommends further research to address specific needs in different communities and advocates for tailored interventions and support systems. Collaboration among stakeholders is crucial to creating a conducive learning environment for adolescents during this critical developmental stage....
