Mohammed’s Habiba. The study titled the“Romance with Vampire in Iyayi’s Violence and Razinat’s Habiba” focuses on the relationship that exists in the society between the rich and the poor through the characters of Obofun and his wife Queen, and Idemudia and his wife Adisa in Violence Mallam Saleh’s household and Mallam Zubairu. the likes of Obofun and his wife Queen represent the rich while the likes of Idemudia, Obofun and Mallam Saleh’s household represent the poor masses. Using the Marxist theory which aims at revealing the capitalist structure of the society, the research shows, through the analysis of the selected texts that the exploiters of the masses and their enticing advance is like the blood sucking vampire, hence the romance with vampire. Vampires are seen as supernatural creatures that suck the blood of their victims. Vampires abound in literature as monsters who only cause death and pain to their victims. In this study, the researcher uses the vampire motif metaphorically to depict the callousness meted out to the poor by the rich. The subject of romance as portrayed by the researcher shows that it exists between the rich and the poor. Festus Iyayi and Razinat T. Mohammed in their novels explore the economic situation that resulted into the exploitation of the masses by the rich in the society who use their wealth as baits to entice the poor people.
