Student bursary award administration has traditionally been a labor-intensive, manual process that depends on paper applications, physical documentation, and human data entry. The inefficiencies, errors, and delays in the awarding process are frustrating to sponsors, administrators, and students. The study had its specific objectives which are“to design a model that will help plan a system to build, develop software for the bursary system, develop a database that will enable record keeping and transaction, integrate the software and the database and implement the system and test functionality. The study adopted structured systems analysis and design, while the tools used for implementation were implemented using Xampp control panel v3.2.4, PHP programming language, Sublime Text Editor and MySQL for understanding purpose and ease in the maintenance. The study recommended that there should be an automated notification system to keep students and administrators informed about important updates, deadlines, or status changes (via SMS, email, or in-app notifications), The system should add advanced filtering options for reviewers to sort applications based on specific criteria such as eligibility, funding required, or academic performance. This would help reviewers process applications more efficiently and the system should perform regular security audits to identify vulnerabilities, especially with third-party libraries and dependencies.
