Abstract
This study examines the role of libraries as essential information resources in promoting human rights and human advancement in Jos, Nigeria. Libraries are positioned uniquely as hubs of knowledge, providing access to educational materials, digital resources, and community-centered programs that empower individuals to understand and advocate for their rights. Employing a mixed-methods approach, this research collected data through surveys to explore how libraries support human rights awareness and facilitate individual and community development. Findings reveal that libraries in Jos contribute significantly to education and career advancement, yet face challenges such as limited funding, technological constraints, and low public awareness of their resources. The study highlights the critical function of libraries in bridging knowledge gaps and fostering digital inclusion, while underscoring the need for enhanced support to amplify their impact. Recommendations for library management include expanding digital resources, implementing targeted outreach initiatives, and developing educational programs focused on rights and civic engagement. The study concludes that, with improved resources and policy support, libraries can continue to drive social progress, advocate for human rights, and advance sustainable community development....
