A descriptive cross-sectional design was adopted for the study. A structured questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. Data was analyzed using SPSS software version 20. The result of the study revealed that the respondents have knowledge of premarital sickle cell genotype screening. The study also reveals that the residents have good practices towards sickle cell genotype test before marriage, but have some gaps along the line. Based on the research findings, the researcher recommends Government should institute strict policies on premarital sickle cell screening to ensure that individuals going into marriage know their status before marriage.
