Abstract
This study was carried out on the attitude of health information personnel towards patient health information security and privacy using the Central Hospital Agbor as a case study. The aim of this study is to determine the level of effectiveness of health information management system, To identify the perception of health information professionals view towards patient health information security and privacy in the hospital, To identify the attitude of health information professionals towards the privacy and confidentiality of patient health information, To identify the factors influencing the effectiveness of patient's health information security and privacy amongst health information personnels. Descriptive survey design was adopted, and a systematic random sampling technique was employed in this study. The population size comprises health information management personnel in different departments in the hospital. A population of 134 was used, but Taroya's metric formula was used to determine the sample size, which was 100. The data were analyzed using percentage count and a frequency table. The result of the findings reveals that there is a high level of effectiveness of the health information management system in Agbor Central Hospital. The result also reveals that health information personnel are aware of the importance of patient information confidentiality, the result also reveals that health care personnel have a positive attitude towards the confidentiality of patient information. The study recommends that the medical records section of the hospital should be made strictly out of bounds to unauthorized users. It also recommends that management of the hospital should create a comprehensive policy that will guide them on the preservation, security and privacy of medical records and also continuous training on patient confidentiality in the hospital ...
