Abstract
This study examines the influence of social stratification on behaviour among senior secondary school in Tarauni Local Government Area, Kano State. The study employs a descriptive survey research design. The study was guided by three key objectives, The population consists of 22,810 senior secondary school students and sample size of 378 respondents was selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire, titled the Influence of Social Stratification on Behavior Among Senior Secondary School Students Questionnaire (ISSBSQ), which was validated by experts and tested for reliability using Cronbach’s Alpha, yielding a coefficient of 0.82. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods such as frequency counts, percentages, means, and standard deviations. Findings from the study indicate that educational level and parental occupation significantly influence students’ behavioral patterns, affecting their social interactions, academic engagement, and discipline. The study concludes that addressing socio-economic disparities in education requires targeted interventions, including government policies that enhance equal access to educational resources, awareness programs for parents on the importance of educational support, and school-based initiatives that provide psychological and academic assistance to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Recommendations from the study include that schools should introduce intervention programs such as mentorship, counseling, and financial aid to support students from low socio-economic backgrounds, helping them overcome academic and behavioral challenges. ...
