Abstract
This study aimed to determine the prevalence of glucosuria among pregnant women attending antenatal care at the General Hospital, Gboko. Midstream urine samples were collected in sterile containers and transported to the laboratory for analysis using reagent strips. The procedure involved deep insertion of the strip into fresh urine, followed by immediate removal and comparison of color changes against a standardized chart after 10 seconds. Results indicated a prevalence rate of 26.3% (40 out of 152) for glucosuria among the sampled population. Analysis by age groups showed higher prevalence rates in older age categories, with 27.5% among those aged 40-49 years. Gender-based analysis revealed a higher incidence among females (67.5%) compared to males (32.5%). These findings underscore the significance of routine screening for glucosuria during antenatal care to facilitate early detection and appropriate management, thereby improving maternal and fetal health outcomes....
