Using a quantitative survey design, data were collected from 412 NCE students through stratified random sampling across all academic levels and subject specializations during the 2024/2025 academic session. The research employed correlation analysis, multiple regression, and moderation analysis to investigate the relationship between AI usage patterns and academic performance indicators. The study achieved an exceptional response rate of 89.96%, ensuring robust representativeness across the target population. Key findings revealed that 84.95% of NCE students actively use AI tools for academic purposes, with ChatGPT being the most popular platform (66.1% usage rate). Significant positive correlations were found between AI usage variables and academic performance indicators, with correlation coefficients ranging from r 0.284 to r 0.467 (p 0.001). AI self-efficacy emerged as the strongest predictor of academic performance (ß 0.298, p 0.001), while the multiple regression model explained 38.7% of the variance in academic outcomes. Students primarily utilize AI for research and information gathering (82.0%) and assignment writing assistance (66.9%). The most valued benefits include faster information access (M 4.23) and improved research capabilities (M 4.12). However, students face significant challenges, including inconsistent internet connectivity (M 4.45) and concerns about academic integrity (M 3.87). Moderation analysis revealed that digital literacy (ß 0.234, p 0.001), academic level (ß 0.156, p 0.003), and gender (ß 0.124, p 0.020) significantly influence the AI usage-performance relationship, with female students and those with higher digital literacy experiencing greater benefits....Preview Download Preview +Other Education project topics and materials you might be interested in»Strategies for improving low academic performance in English language in secondary schools»The effect of continuous assessment on academic performance of students in school (a case study of Okitipupa local government area of Ondo state)»Influence of social media on the performance of secondary school students as perceived by teachers»The effect of overpopulation on the academic performance of students - a case study of Uselu secondary school, Benin City»The use of extensive reading in promoting communication competence in secondary school»Evaluating the causes, effects and solutions to cultism in Nigeria's tertiary institutions»Effect of drill and practice on the academic achievement of students in English language in junior secondary schools»The problems of primary school education in Kano State»Factors affecting the effective implementation of continuous assessment in Oredo local government area of Edo state»Factors associated with the mass failure of students in integrated science in secondary schools»Cultism in Nigeria's tertiary institutions - a case study of Lagos state university»Effect of school environment on the academic performance of primary school students»Factors affecting the implementation of universal basic education in some selected primary schools»Efficacy of mastery learning on retention and performance in identified threshold concepts in chemistry among secondary school students in Kano municipal, Nigeria»Impact of principal’s leadership style on students’ academic performance in some selected secondary schools of Gwale local government area, Kano state
