The research design employed was a survey the target population of the study consisted of the people of the Igbo ethnic group in Kano State metropolitan. The sample size was one hundred (100) participants drawn from the Igbo tribe. The respondents were also selected based on simple random sampling technique. Information was gathered through structured questionnaires. Data was presented and analyzed by relating the respondents'' views with the specific objectives of the study and research questions. The findings revealed that the influence of Western culture is the major challenge in preserving Igbo traditional costume and the lack of cultural knowledge is among the problems.
