Abstract
This study examined the effect of dividend policy on shareholders' wealth maximization in Nigerian oil firms: A study of selected oil companies in Nigeria. The objectives of the study include to: examine the extent to which dividend per share, earnings per share and earnings yield affect shareholders' wealth. The study adopted a quantitative research design. The data for the study were generated from the annual reports of various selected oil companies and the Nigerian Stock Exchange covering the period 2015 to 2024. The study found that Dividend per share has a positive 0.736907 and significant effect on shareholders' wealth over changes in earnings per share for the period of this study. Earnings per share have a positive effect on Shareholders' wealth and in significant for the period. Earnings Yield (0.436161) has no significant effect on Shareholders' wealth (SHW) of quoted oil and gas companies in Nigeria. The study recommended, amongst others, that oil and gas companies in the country should enhance the provision of dividends per share; hence, the empirical outcome of this study proves that dividend per share has a positive and significant effect on earnings per share.
