Security is an essential aspect of human rights, as it is necessary for every human to feel secure in their community and country at large. Bade town, Yobe state, as of 2013, experienced a major setback in its commercial activities due to the fight between the Nigerian military and the Boko Haram terrorist group. The insurgency has resulted in serious insecurity, which poses serious developmental challenges to the people, as they cannot continue with their business activities anymore. It is against this background that the study examines the causes of rising insecurity in Bade town, the dynamics of economic wellbeing of the people of Bade town during the Boko Haram crisis, and the nature of the responses of the government to the rising insecurity in Bade town. In conducting this study, a literature-based methodology was employed, where secondary data in the form of published books, newspapers, online articles/journals, and reports were used, which have been written on the topic. It argues that the Nigerian government, although it is trying its best, but still yet has been unable to defeat the insurgent group due to the increasing rate of corruption in the country, which in turn leads to a lack of adequate human and prosperity as well as political stability. Security entails the protection of lives and properties, the absence of war, happiness, fairness, and safety.
