Abstract
This project focuses on the design and production of a safe, comfortable, and aesthetically appealing baby hijab suitable for infants between the ages of 6 to 18 months. The study was motivated by the need for a baby-friendly hijab that meets Islamic modesty requirements while addressing issues of comfort, fabric suitability, and safety often found in existing products. Data were collected through observations, interviews with mothers and caregivers, and an evaluation of available market samples. Findings revealed that many baby hijabs are made with harsh fabrics, poor finishing, and unsafe accessories that can cause discomfort or pose choking hazards. Based on the information gathered, a prototype baby hijab was designed using soft, breathable, and hypoallergenic cotton jersey fabric. The design incorporated features such as stretchability, flat seams, and the elimination of sharp or detachable accessories. The production process involved pattern drafting, cutting, and stitching using techniques suitable for infant wear. The finished hijab was tested on selected infants and was found to be comfortable, easy to wear, safe, and aesthetically pleasing. The study concludes that high-quality materials and proper ergonomic design significantly improve the safety and functionality of baby hijabs. The project recommends the use of soft fabrics, standardized baby measurements, and hazard-free construction in future productions to ensure the well-being of infants....
