Abstract
This project focuses on the design and production of durable, stylish, and functional bags using denim fabric. The study was carried out to explore the suitability of denim as a primary material for bag construction due to its strength, availability, aesthetic appeal, and growing popularity in fashion accessories. Data for the study were obtained through observations, interviews with bag users and fashion designers, and a survey of denim varieties available in the market. Findings revealed that denim is a versatile fabric that offers excellent durability, ease of handling, and visual appeal when used in combination with appropriate lining and reinforcement materials. The design process involved developing sketches, selecting medium-weight denim, drafting bag patterns, and constructing the bags using industrial sewing techniques. Reinforcement materials such as stiffener, interfacing, and lining fabric were incorporated to improve structure and longevity. The final products were evaluated based on strength, aesthetics, finishing quality, and functionality. Evaluation results showed that the denim bags performed excellently in terms of durability, comfort, capacity, and style, making them suitable for both casual and semi-formal use. The project concludes that denim is an effective and reliable material for bag production, providing both aesthetic value and structural integrity.
