Abstract
This project focuses on the design and production of a baby carrier using denim fabric, with the aim of creating a durable, comfortable, safe, and aesthetically appealing carrier suitable for infants between 3 and 12 months. The study examines suitable materials, construction techniques, ergonomic considerations, and finishing methods required to produce a functional baby carrier that meets both safety and comfort standards. Denim fabric was selected due to its strength, durability, and ability to securely support weight. Soft cotton lining and foam padding were incorporated to enhance comfort for both the baby and the wearer, while adjustable straps and strong buckles provided flexibility and safety. The production processes involved design sketching, pattern drafting, material cutting, assembly, reinforcement of stress points, and final finishing. Evaluation of the finished product showed that the baby carrier offered excellent support, comfort, and durability, with neat finishing and an attractive appearance. The findings of the study demonstrate that denim is an appropriate material for baby carrier production and that locally made carriers can effectively compete with imported varieties when proper design and construction techniques are applied. The project concludes that the use of suitable materials and ergonomic design principles ensures the safety and comfort of both the baby and the wearer. Recommendations include continued safety testing, exploring alternative fabrics, and encouraging local production to meet increasing market demand....
