It informed the health officers on the understanding of secondary school students regarding abortion and it associated risk factors. Among the objectives was to assess the knowledge of abortion among secondary school students and to determine the attitude of secondary school students on abortion. Furthermore, to identify the practice of abortion among secondary school students. Many medical and allied literatures on abortion and it risk factors were reviewed to develop more facts for the project work. This research uses a descriptive survey to sample students from the case study in the study area. Questionnaire is the instrument used to gather and analyze the data. 185 questionnaires were distributed, out of which 180 were retrieved. The findings showed that on aggregate, 141(78%) of the respondents admitted that abortion is the termination of a product of conception before 24 weeks of pregnancy, while only 39(22%) disagreed. The finding reveals that the majority of the respondents were aware of the consequences of abortion. Findings show 144(80%) of the respondents agreed that abortion carries a risk of infection, especially if proper sterile techniques are not followed, and 141(78%) agreed that excessive bleeding can occur during or after the procedure.
