Method: The study was a community-based descriptive cross-sectional study where one hundred and fifty-six (156) respondents were recruited using a random sampling technique in the study area. A semi-structured, closed-ended self-administered questionnaire was used as a data collection instrument. Data obtained were analyzed using Simple Percentage Social Science (SPSS) Version 21 and presented in frequency tables and charts. Results: The results obtained revealed that all the 156 (100%) respondents had agreed and strongly agreed that History of previous STIs, Unprotected sexual intercourse by not using a barrier contraceptives like a condom, Multiple sex partners, Induced Abortion, and Surgical Termination of pregnancy are the possible risk factors of PID among women of childbearing age. However, the study found the highest number of respondents, 145(93%), also agreed and strongly agreed that PID is caused by sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as Gonorrhea and Chlamydia. Conclusion: The study indicates that there is a high level of knowledge on the possible risk factors and preventive measures of PID. Meanwhile, the level of knowledge of the women is low as some of them were undecided as to the complication of the disease. And also some of them were undecided and disagreed as to the causes of PID.
