Scaphoid fractures, which account for 2–7% of all fractures, are most common among young adults. Due to the bone’s unique blood supply and high functional demands, healing is often complicated. Displaced fractures are typically visible on radiographs, but the diagnostic approach for suspected scaphoid injuries remains debated. Imaging techniques such as bone scintigraphy, MRI, and CT each have limitations. Prompt treatment generally improves outcomes. Scaphoid fractures may be managed either conservatively or surgically. However, proximal and displaced fractures tend to have poorer results and are often better treated with open or closed reduction and internal fixation.
