Abstract
Traditional bone setters have long been relied upon across different cultures for fracture management, drawing on ancestral knowledge and experience. While their methods often provide immediate pain relief and fracture stabilization, the associated risks and complications can be considerable. Patients frequently express satisfaction with traditional bone setting due to its perceived effectiveness. However, improper fracture alignment is a common complication, which may result in malunion or nonunion, leading to long-term functional limitations and sometimes necessitating surgical correction. A major limitation is the absence of modern diagnostic tools such as X-rays, MRI, or CT scans. Without these, bone setters may miss associated injuries or fractures that require surgical intervention. Infections also pose a significant risk, particularly when unsterilized instruments or materials are used.
