Abstract
The effectiveness of smartphone advertising in influencing consumer behavior, particularly among student populations, has become increasingly pertinent in contemporary marketing landscapes. This study investigates the impact of smartphone advertisements on the purchasing decisions and attitudes of students at Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku. Employing a quantitative research design, data is collected through surveys to assess students' exposure to smartphone advertisements, perceptions of ad credibility and relevance, purchasing behavior, and demographic influences. Key findings from the study illuminate the prevalence of smartphone advertisements among students, with a notable variance in exposure levels. Moreover, students exhibit diverse perceptions of ad credibility and relevance, influenced by factors such as visual appeal, message resonance, and cultural context. These perceptions, in turn, significantly influence students' purchasing behavior, with implications for marketers seeking to optimize advertising strategies. Furthermore, demographic factors such as age, gender, and socioeconomic status are found to shape students' responses to smartphone advertisements, underscoring the importance of targeted advertising approaches. Additionally, the study highlights the role of students' usage patterns and behaviors with smartphones in influencing their receptiveness to advertisements, emphasizing the need for advertisers to understand and adapt to evolving consumer habits.   ...
