Descriptive survey research design was used to carry out the research. Simple random sampling technique was used to select the respondents for the study. Five (5) departments were selected in the School of Arts and Social Sciences and the School of Languages, whereby three (3) departments were selected in School of Arts and Social Sciences and two (2) departments in the School of Languages. The data collected from the respondents was analyzed using statistical tools of tables, charts, mean score and standard deviation and t-test to test the hypothesis of the study. From the findings of this study, it was found that poor governance contributes to corruption in tertiary institutions. Also, inadequate funding plays a role in fostering corruption. It was also revealed that corruption leads to the use of substandard materials in construction projects within Nigerian institutions and can also lead to a lack of completion of infrastructure projects in Nigerian institutions. Furthermore, the study concludes that proper infrastructure development will attract qualified staff to the Nigerian institutions. Adequate infrastructure development will enable students to learn in a conducive environment and retain what is learnt. It was therefore recommended that governments should strengthen anti-corruption laws, institutions, and enforcement mechanisms to combat corruption effectively within Nigeria's tertiary education sector.
