However, many postpartum women lack adequate knowledge and proper practices of perineal care, especially in low-resource settings. Poor perineal hygiene can lead to complications such as infections, delayed healing, and discomfort during the postnatal period. The study aimed to determine the level of knowledge of perineal care among the technique. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire covering socio-demographic characteristics, knowledge, and practice of perineal care. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequencies and percentages. The findings showed that 84.4% of respondents had heard about perineal care, and 87.2% recognized that it helps prevent infection. However, only 67% knew the correct method of cleaning the perineal area. Healthcare providers were the main source of information (64.2%). In terms of practice, 45.9% of respondents cleaned the perineal area once daily, while 34.9% cleaned twice daily. The most commonly used materials were antiseptic solution (50.5%) and clean water (44.0%). Major challenges affecting proper practice included limited access to clean water and materials (36.7%), lack of knowledge (27.5%), and cultural beliefs or traditional practices (18.3%). The study revealed that although awareness of perineal care among postpartum women is relatively high, gaps still exist in knowledge and proper practice. Strengthening postnatal health education, improving access to hygiene materials, and addressing cultural barriers are necessary to promote proper perineal care and reduce postpartum complications. ...Preview Download Preview +Other Nursing Science project topics and materials you might be interested in»Factors contributing to ineffective utilization of immunization programme among mothers in Ekwerazu town Ahiazu Mbaise local government area Imo state»Knowledge and practice of quality assurance among nurses working in accident and emergency unit of University of Ilorin teaching hospital, Kwara state»Awareness of female genital mutilation and its implication to reproductive health among mothers in Amaifeke in Orlu local government, Imo state»Factors that influence the patronage of traditional birth attendants in Umuowa community Orlu Lga, Imo State»Accessibility and use of information communication technology (ICT) in the enhancement of nursing education among nursing students in Madonna University Teaching Hospital (MUTH)»Attitude of nurses towards research among accident and emergency nurses of University of Ilorin teaching hospital»Awareness and practice of pressure sores prevention in the care of the elderly among nurses in Madonna University Teaching Hospital»Incidence of protein energy malnutrition among children under five years in General Hospital, Yelwa Yauri, Kebbi state»Factors influencing the attitudes of women toward family planning in Rivers state»Assessment of nutritional pattern and practice among pregnant women in holy rosary hospital»Burnout syndrome and use of therapeutic approaches among nursing students in Madonna University, Rivers state»Assessment of exclusive breastfeeding in the development of under-five children in Madonna University Teaching Hospital»Assessment of practices used in the prevention of Lassa fever infection among health workers in Madonna University Teaching Hospital»Factors influencing high rate of abortion among women of childbearing age in Saki, Saki West Local Government Area, Oyo State»Awareness of determinants of sexual abuse and identification of supportive care among female nursing student of Madonna University
