Abstract
The increasing adoption of Artificial Intelligence in newsroom operations has significantly transformed modern journalism practices, particularly in areas such as news gathering, content production, editing, and audience engagement. This study examines the perception of journalists on the integration of AI technologies in newsroom operations within the context of Mass Communication. It explores how journalists view the opportunities, challenges, and implications of AI tools in enhancing or reshaping traditional journalistic workflows. The study adopts a descriptive survey research design, using questionnaires and interviews to gather data from practicing journalists in selected media organizations. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistical tools such as frequency tables and percentages. Findings from the study reveal that journalists generally acknowledge the benefits of AI integration, particularly in improving efficiency, speeding up news production, and assisting in data analysis and content generation. However, the study also finds that journalists express concerns about job displacement, reduced editorial control, ethical implications, and the potential for misinformation generated by AI systems. Many journalists believe that while AI can support newsroom operations, it should not replace human judgment, creativity, and editorial responsibility. The study concludes that journalists have a cautiously positive perception of AI integration, recognizing its benefits while remaining concerned about its long-term implications for employment and journalistic standards. It recommends that media organizations adopt a hybrid model where AI tools are used to support rather than replace human journalists, alongside clear ethical guidelines and continuous professional training. Overall, the study highlights the need for a balanced approach to AI integration that preserves journalistic integrity while leveraging technological advancements for improved newsroom efficiency....
