The study specifically investigated the influence of forensic accounting on financial fraud prevention, examined the role of forensic accounting techniques in fraud detection, assessed its contribution to transparency and accountability, identified the challenges affecting its implementation, and evaluated its effectiveness in combating financial fraud. A survey research design was adopted, and data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to employees of the selected ministries. Out of 200 questionnaires distributed, 133 valid responses were retrieved and analyzed using a five-point Likert scale. Descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, were used to answer the research questions, while multiple regression analysis was employed to test the hypotheses at the 5% level of significance. The findings revealed that forensic accounting significantly enhances financial fraud prevention by strengthening fraud investigation and fraud detection mechanisms. The study also found that forensic accounting promotes transparency, accountability, and effective management of public funds. However, inadequate funding, shortage of trained forensic accountants, weak legal enforcement, poor technological infrastructure, and political interference were identified as major challenges affecting its implementation. The regression results further showed that fraud investigation, fraud detection, and implementation challenges significantly influence financial fraud prevention in public sector organizations. The study concluded that forensic accounting is an effective strategy for reducing financial fraud and improving accountability in government institutions. It therefore recommended the establishment of forensic accounting units in public sector organizations, continuous professional training, improved technological infrastructure, adequate funding, and stronger legal support for forensic accounting practices.
