The objectives of the study are to examine the impact of insecurity on business operations and investment in Nigeria, to evaluate the implications of security challenges on Nigeria’s sustainable development and to propose strategic recommendations for improving security and promoting sustainable economic growth. The methodology adopted for gathering data was a descriptive method, using both primary and secondary methods. The major instrument used to gather data from primary sources is the questionnaire. From a population of 194,900, a sample size of 399 respondents was selected using the Taro Yamane formula. Findings revealed that the study revealed that political violence in Okehi is fueled by a combination of factors, including poverty, youth unemployment, political manipulation, lack of political education, weak security presence, and a culture of impunity. Young people, often jobless and frustrated, are used as tools by political actors to intimidate opponents and disrupt electoral processes. One significant effect of this violence is the erosion of community security and cohesion. Political violence instills fear in residents, disrupts economic activities, and creates long-term divisions within families and communities. In view of the findings, it was recommended that the government and civil society organizations should organize continuous voter and civic education campaigns to enlighten citizens on the dangers of political violence and their rights to peaceful participation in the democratic process. Creating jobs and vocational opportunities for youth in Okehi will reduce their vulnerability to being used as political thugs.
