The major objective of this project is to determine the reasons why adolescent student resolve to drugs and to determine the effects of drug abuse on academic performance and to determine the prevention and control measures of drug abuse among students of tertiary institutions. The methodology adopted in gathering data was a descriptive method, both primary and secondary methods. The major instrument used to gather data from primary sources is the questionnaire. From a population of over 1720, a sample size of 325 respondents was selected using Taro Yamane. Findings revealed that drug abuse has a negative impact on the lives and academic performance of youth and others; it causes poor perception, unconsciousness, death, broken homes, poor grades, increased crime rate in the state and country at large. In view of the findings, it was recommended that parents should try to give their children moral, spiritual, social, psychological, and financial support to guide them against peer. Teachers should familiarize themselves with their students so they are able to discover any anti-social behaviour and provide immediate solutions to it; guidance counselors should give necessary counseling to the drug abusers, as well as to their parents or guardians; and the government should provide all necessary materials and equipment to make teaching and learning interesting so as to reduce anti-social behaviours in school.
